Everest Base Camp Trek

The Everest Base Camp Trek is the world’s most iconic trekking adventure, taking you to the foot of Mount Everest (8,848 m) and the legendary Base Camp at 5,364 m. You’ll walk the same trail as Hillary and Tenzing, passing through colourful Sherpa villages, ancient monasteries, suspension bridges, and rhododendron forests, with jaw-dropping views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and countless other giants every single day.

This trek isn’t just about the destination, the journey itself is unforgettable: the warm Sherpa hospitality, prayer flags fluttering in the wind, the roar of the Dudh Koshi River, and the feeling of standing at 5,364 m looking up at the highest mountain on Earth.

Detailed itinerary

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. After check-in, take time to rest and recover from your international journey. Depending on arrival time, you may enjoy a short walk or relax at the hotel. Overnight at a comfortable hotel.

This day is reserved for trek preparation and recovery. You will attend a detailed briefing covering the Everest region, altitude considerations, safety procedures, and trekking schedule. A full gear check will be conducted, with time for last-minute shopping or rentals if needed. The remainder of the day is free for rest or light exploration. Overnight at hotel.

An early morning scenic flight takes you to Lukla, one of the world’s most iconic mountain airstrips. Upon arrival, the trek begins with an easy walk through Sherpa villages, mani walls, and pine forests along the Dudh Koshi River. The short trek to Phakding allows gentle acclimatization. Overnight at teahouse.

Today’s trail follows the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges adorned with prayer flags. After entering Sagarmatha National Park, the route ascends steadily toward Namche Bazaar. On clear days, the first glimpse of Mount Everest can be seen along the trail. Namche, the commercial hub of the Khumbu, offers excellent facilities. Overnight at lodge.

A vital acclimatization day to help your body adjust to altitude. A guided hike to Everest View Hotel or nearby villages such as Khumjung provides panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. The afternoon is free for rest, hydration, and exploration of Namche’s markets, bakeries, and museums. Overnight at lodge.

The trail contours along hillsides with spectacular views of Everest, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. After descending to the Dudh Koshi River, a steady climb leads to Tengboche, home to the region’s most important monastery. A visit to Tengboche Monastery offers insight into Sherpa culture and Himalayan Buddhism. Overnight at lodge.

Descending through forests before crossing the Imja Khola, the trail gradually ascends above the tree line. The landscape becomes more alpine as you approach Dingboche, a picturesque settlement surrounded by stone-walled fields and towering peaks. Dingboche is a key acclimatization stop with expansive mountain views. Overnight at lodge.

Another essential acclimatization day. Optional hikes to nearby ridges such as Nangkartshang Peak provide stunning views of Makalu, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. The rest of the day is dedicated to recovery, hydration, and monitoring health before ascending further. Overnight at lodge.

The trail follows a gradual ascent through glacial terrain toward Thukla Pass, where memorials honor climbers who lost their lives on Everest. From here, the route follows the edge of the Khumbu Glacier to Lobuche. The environment becomes stark and dramatic at this altitude. Overnight at lodge.

A highlight day of the journey. Trek along the Khumbu Glacier to Everest Base Camp, standing beneath the towering Khumbu Icefall. After spending time at Base Camp, descend to Gorak Shep for the night. The sense of achievement and surrounding Himalayan grandeur make this day unforgettable. Overnight at lodge.

Early morning ascent of Kala Patthar offers breathtaking sunrise views over Everest, Nuptse, and the Khumbu Glacier, one of the finest viewpoints in the region. After descending to Gorak Shep for breakfast, continue the descent to Pheriche, enjoying increased oxygen levels and comfort. Overnight at lodge.

Retrace your steps through Pangboche and Tengboche, passing familiar trails and scenic viewpoints. The descent allows for easier walking and renewed energy. Return to the lively atmosphere of Namche Bazaar. Overnight at lodge.

The final trekking day follows the Dudh Koshi River through forests and villages. After crossing suspension bridges and gentle descents, arrive in Lukla. This evening is often celebrated with your trekking crew, marking the successful completion of the journey. Overnight at lodge.

Board a morning flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free for rest, shopping, or sightseeing in the city. Overnight at hotel.

A leisure day to relax after the trek. Optional sightseeing tours to UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, or Patan Durbar Square can be arranged. Overnight at hotel.
