Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek (ABC Trek) is one of Nepal’s most popular and rewarding short treks, leading you straight into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary to the base of Annapurna I (8,091 m). This beautiful route takes you through traditional Gurung villages, terraced fields, lush rhododendron and bamboo forests, rushing rivers, and dramatic mountain scenery, ending at the stunning natural amphitheater of Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m) surrounded by towering peaks like Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Gangapurna.
It’s a perfect mix of culture, nature, and Himalayan grandeur with comfortable teahouses, moderate difficulty, and incredible close-up mountain views, ideal for trekkers who want big scenery without extreme altitude or long duration.
Detailed itinerary
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. After check-in, take time to rest and recover from your international journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a short walk around the neighborhood or relax at the hotel. Overnight at a comfortable hotel.
This day is dedicated to trek preparation and recovery. You will attend a detailed briefing covering the route, safety procedures, and daily trekking routine. A full equipment check will be conducted to ensure all personal gear is suitable for high-altitude trekking, with time for last-minute shopping or rentals if required. Overnight at hotel.
Travel to Pokhara, Nepal’s scenic lakeside city. Depending on your preference, enjoy a short domestic flight with Himalayan views or a comfortable overland drive through hills and river valleys. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and spend the afternoon relaxing by Phewa Lake or exploring the lakeside area. Overnight at hotel.
A morning drive takes you to Ulleri, the starting point of today’s trek. The trail ascends through stone staircases, rhododendron forests, and traditional villages. As elevation increases, the air cools and mountain views begin to appear. Reach Ghorepani, a charming hilltop village known for its panoramic vistas. Overnight at lodge.
An early morning hike to Poon Hill rewards you with a spectacular sunrise over Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre. After descending to Ghorepani for breakfast, the trek continues through dense forest and ridgelines toward Tadapani. Enjoy tranquil alpine scenery along the way. Overnight at lodge.
The trail descends through lush forests and terraced farmland before climbing toward Chhomrong, the gateway village to the Annapurna Sanctuary. From here, enjoy stunning views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre towering above the valley. Chhomrong’s stone houses and welcoming atmosphere make for a memorable stay. Overnight at lodge.
Today’s route descends to the Chhomrong Khola before ascending gradually through bamboo and rhododendron forests. The environment becomes more alpine as you follow the Modi Khola deeper into the sanctuary. Reach Dovan, a peaceful settlement surrounded by towering cliffs and waterfalls. Overnight at lodge.
A highlight day of the trek. Ascend gradually through Deurali and Machhapuchhre Base Camp, entering the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary. Surrounded by towering Himalayan giants, arrive at Annapurna Base Camp, offering a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, and Machhapuchhre. Overnight at lodge.
After enjoying sunrise views at Base Camp, begin the descent following the same trail back through Machhapuchhre Base Camp and Deurali. Descending to lower elevations brings warmer air and renewed energy. Reach Sinuwa for a well-earned rest. Overnight at lodge.
Continue trekking down through forested trails to Jhinu Danda, famous for its natural hot springs. Enjoy a relaxing soak beside the river before driving back to Pokhara. Arrive in Pokhara in the evening and settle into your hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Return to Kathmandu by flight or overland journey. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free for shopping, sightseeing, or relaxation. Overnight at hotel.
