Langtang Valley Trek
The Langtang Valley Trek is one of Nepal’s most beautiful and accessible short treks, taking you into the stunning Langtang National Park just north of Kathmandu. You’ll walk through traditional Tamang villages, rhododendron forests, terraced fields, and the wide glacial valley, with incredible close-up views of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and the massive Langtang Lirung Glacier. The trail leads to Kyanjin Gompa, an old Tibetan Buddhist monastery, and offers optional side trips to Tserko Ri (4,984 m) for panoramic sunrise views.
This trek is peaceful and less crowded than Everest or Annapurna, with warm Tamang hospitality, cheese factories, prayer flags, and a real sense of mountain culture. It’s perfect for beginners, families, or anyone wanting authentic Himalayan scenery with moderate effort and low altitude risk.
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. After check-in, take time to rest and recover from your journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may explore the nearby streets or simply relax at the hotel. Overnight at a comfortable hotel in Kathmandu.
This day is reserved for trek preparation and briefing. You will meet your guide for a detailed orientation covering the trekking route, daily schedule, safety protocols, and altitude considerations. A full equipment check will be conducted, with time to arrange or rent any missing gear. The remainder of the day is free for rest or light sightseeing. Overnight at hotel.
After breakfast, begin a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the starting point of the Langtang Valley Trek. The journey follows winding mountain roads, passing rivers, terraced hillsides, and rural villages. Enjoy views of lush valleys and distant peaks along the way. Upon arrival, settle into your lodge and prepare for the trek. Overnight at lodge.
The trek officially begins today, following the Langtang River through dense forests of oak, bamboo, and rhododendron. The trail ascends gradually, crossing suspension bridges and passing small settlements. Wildlife such as monkeys and colorful bird species may be spotted along the way. Lama Hotel, nestled in the forest, offers a peaceful overnight stop. Overnight at lodge.
Continuing upward, the trail gradually opens into wider valleys as the forest thins. You will pass prayer wheels, mani walls, and yak pastures, reflecting the region’s Tibetan-influenced culture. The dramatic peaks of Langtang Lirung begin to dominate the skyline. Arrive at Langtang Village, beautifully set amid alpine scenery. Overnight at lodge.
A relatively short and scenic trek brings you to Kyanjin Gomba, the spiritual heart of the Langtang Valley. Surrounded by glaciers and towering Himalayan peaks, this alpine settlement offers stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. In the afternoon, you may explore the monastery, visit the local cheese factory, or relax while enjoying the mountain panorama. Overnight at lodge.
An essential acclimatization day to ensure safe altitude adjustment. Early in the morning, embark on a guided hike to Kyanjin Ri, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Langtang Himal, glaciers, and surrounding peaks. After descending, spend the rest of the day resting, hydrating, and exploring the area at leisure. Overnight at lodge.
Begin the descent, retracing the trail through Langtang Village and forested sections. The downhill walk allows comfortable acclimatization while offering new perspectives of the valley and surrounding landscapes. Arrive back at Lama Hotel for overnight rest. Overnight at lodge.
Continue descending along the Langtang River through lush forests and small villages. The warmer air and greenery signal your return to lower elevations. Reach Syabrubesi by afternoon, marking the completion of the trekking portion of the journey. Overnight at lodge.
After breakfast, drive back to Kathmandu along the mountain highway. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening in the city, with opportunities for shopping or dining. Overnight at hotel.
